The Harrow Elfin Group
The Harrow Elfin Group is for children between 6 and 9 years old and is part of the Harrow Woodcraft Folk.
Aims:
- To span the world with friendship.
- To develop respect for and a caring attitude towards others.
- To develop sharing and co-operative skills.
- To develop confidence in collective activities.
- To create a more equal and caring world.
- To understand the world we live in and develop a respect for nature.
- To appreciate each others efforts and the achievements of the group.
Harrow Elfins
Harrow Elfins meet Tuesday evening, 6.30 to 8.00pm in central Harrow. The latest programme continues to include an extensive number of games. The games are followed by an educational period of badge work, craft work, drama, singing, folk dancing, varying from week to week. The evening usually ends with with more games.
Badge work to be developed
- I Begin badge: To show a sense of loyalty and belonging to the
Woodcraft. - I Am badge: To show an understanding of the Woodcraft Folk and that of the Group is only one part of a much larger organisation.
- I Belong - A badge that includes knowledge about the Woodcraft Folk, the Co-op and a Co-operative project based on Woodcraft Folk principles.
- I See and Know badge: To gain an understanding of the world of nature and the wide variety of plants and animals which live around us.
- Ecologist badge: To help Elfins understand the relationships between all living things and how dependant we are on each other.
- World Friend: To extend children's knowledge of the 'World Family' and help them realise how much we depend on each other.
Harrow Elfins
Themes: Outdoor skills and Seasonal crafts.
* The Elfins will be camping in April and going on hikes/rambles,
* They will be learning outdoor skills such as knots, the use of stoves to cook on, hiking laws and the country code.
* Craftwork/skills: Peace doves, sandwich making, origami, mobiles and drawing skills
* Dance and Drama: Folk Dancing, story telling and charades.
